Test Overview:

Do not breed affected dogs that are homozygous for the MANBA mutation. Avoid carrier × carrier matings, which have a 25% risk of affected offspring. Breed carriers only to genetically clear (non-carrier) dogs to prevent affected puppies though some carriers will result. Routine genetic screening of breeding stock is strongly advised in German Shepherd breeding programs to reduce disease incidence while maintaining genetic diversity.
