Genetic testing for DKK4 variants associated with the Ti locus is recommended for breeding cats to predict coat pattern outcomes. Since Ti is dominant, breeding ticked cats (TiA/-) to non-ticked cats (Ti+/Ti+) will produce approximately 50% ticked kittens. Breeding two ticked cats can produce a higher proportion of ticked kittens but may show variable pattern expression.
