Test Overview:

Genetic testing for the Rdy (CRX) mutation is crucial in Abyssinian, Somali, and related cats to identify carriers and affected individuals. Cats with one or two copies of the mutation are affected and should not be bred, as they will produce affected offspring. Breeding cats without the mutation is recommended to eliminate the disease allele from populations. Avoid breeding any cats with the mutation to minimize the spread of this severe early-onset blindness.
