Test Overview:

Genetic testing should be performed on all breeding cats to identify carriers of the GUSB mutation. Cats with two copies of the mutation (affected) must not be bred due to severe disease. Cats carrying one copy of the mutation (carriers) show no symptoms but can pass the mutation to offspring. Carriers should be bred only to cats clear of the mutation to prevent producing affected kittens. Avoid breeding two carriers, which results in 25% affected kittens per litter on average. Responsible breeding and sharing of genetic testing results help reduce disease prevalence while maintaining genetic diversity.
