(ONLINE PRICE)

Test Overview:

Amber and Russet coat colours associated with the E locus mutations (MC1R gene) are recessive traits, meaning: Cats must inherit two copies of the Amber (ea) or Russet (er) mutation to express the respective coat colours. Cats with only one copy (carriers) will not show these colours but can pass the mutation to offspring. To produce Amber or Russet-coloured cats, both parents must be at least carriers of the respective mutation. In breeding programs for Norwegian Forest Cats (Amber) or Burmese cats (Russet): Test breeding cats for the specific E locus mutations to identify carriers and homozygous individuals. Avoid mating two carriers unless the goal is to produce the Amber or Russet coat colours. When breeding for these colours, ensure you also consider overall breed health, diversity, and other traits.
